JWs are the only religion that recycles its garbage and feeds back to its people.

i went to the sunday circuit assembly and came back all riled up with all the nonsense.. the sunday program was on ''safeguarding your spirituality''.
''it is better to remain single and not marry.
that gives you more time for studying and the preaching work.

ps. i would like to go to some assemblies again now that i have new eyes but i dont know if i could control myself!
while listening to the special talk on sunday the speaker made a statement about something we have all heard a million times: satan is in control of this system and its governments and is the cause of mankind's ills.
but the statement made me think.
we all were taught that we are, during this time of the end, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that man is not capable of guiding his own step, in other words we need god.
So then, as i remember it, they didn't want to spread out as per Gods decree and built Babel. However, given enough time they would have needed to anyway, and as Jehovah himself admitted: Why, now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be unattainable for them.
Given the chance, i dare say that mankind may well have made a good shot at it if the devine beings stayed out of it... god new that and couldn't take the slap in the face...?
i dont like God

i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .
hi mr flipper...always a pleasure to comunicate with you,
i came in about 10 years old in 1972 i think, baptised at 18 coz it was the done thing, spent the rest of my time TRYING to be good enough, walked away in 1998 at 36 and was D/F at about 38 in 2000.
the amazing thing on reflection was that i NEVER even imagined it could be wrong! It must be me thats the problem... i see it differently now of course!
during that time i served as a reg pio, m/s, served where the need was greater and was accepted to bethel construction

i have to say that i love music!
i love 60s to present r &b, soul, funk and many top 40 songs.
i think that even if i'm tired or down a bit, music picks me up!.
saving my kids from the Jws, my wife, her art, sex, rockabilly life and building my hotrod... and sleep

my brother and i had a large part in introducing microphones to our little hall... when i look back, totally stupid, the hall was no bigger than my house and everybody could fit in the first 6 rows!

i have a photo taken in 1915 with c. t. russell standing in a large group of men.
i have seen lots of pictures of him but usually he is by himself.
something that stood out in the picture is how different he looked from everyone else in the picture.
maybe he was just an eccentric kook?
truthfully... i think he was in love with his self image.
1975 for deniers.
most of today's jws were not members in 1975 or in the 9 years prior to 1975, so they were not eyewitnesses to what really went on during that period.
i was a pioneer in that period, and i was an eyewitness to what went on.. those jws who are still active today and who were around in that period will typically say it was the "brothers" who "ran ahead of jehovah" and "read more into" the 1975 prediction than what was actually stated.
- "Something" momentous will happen in 1975
Yep, thousands left! the GB blamed everybody else for the egg on their faces and swept it all under some big rug in Brooklyn.

I remember it well, we kids laughed at our father for going to chiropractor college in 1974... why, gods gunna kill him next year! (he is now retired!)
Absolutlely they pushed 75 as the end. How can they deny it?
What about the Awake! Oct 8 1966? (unfortunatly i dont have a hard copy and its not on the lib cd... i got the quote somewhere on here!)
‘We are nearing the end of the first six thousand years of man’s existence.
If the date of the creation of man (4026 B.C) is also the date of the beginning
of the seventh creative day or sabbath, it is therefore calculated that the end of the first 6,000 years of this 7,000-year-long day will take place in the year 1975. Since the last thousand years of this seventh day are to be occupied entirely by the millennial reign of Christ, it follows that the year 1975 will witness the Battle of Armageddon and the ushering in of the long awaited new world under the King Jesus Christ. The article continued:
‘So, we can expect the immediate future to be filled with thrilling events for those who rest their faith on God and his promises’. (P20)
"IF....... (4026 B.C) is the date.........1975 will witness the battle of Armageddon"
Perhaps i may be taking it out of context but i dont think so, 4026 was seen and still is seen as the date of Adams creation, used to make the calculations. I have no doubt that the WBTS meant exactly what it said too. They saw the "IF" as a definite.

my husband and i have been fading for sometime.
we did attend the memorial this year with his parents.
we have had quite a few heart to heart conversations about us leaving the witnesses slowly.
I can understand your husbands reaction.
just because one wants to leave does not mean one wants to be an 'apostate' nor wear that label.
i was out and D/f 12 years before i found this site... to be honest it freaked me out no end! Although there was NO WAY i was going back, i still beleived it all. So, coming to terms with what i was learning took a bit of time. I still dont like the term 'apostate', but i realize that is what i am as i lie in bed at night plotting nefarious deeds to wake some JWs up!

when i was in i wouldn't have obeyed that.
but i'm sure they could find some scripture and twist it enough to back them up.. .
seriously would there be a mass revolt?
well they have to put hankies or tea towells on their heads if taking the place of a baptized male... so stylize the tea towell, make it longer and hey presto!
muslim JWs!
